A LOCAL HIBISCUS 🌺 TEA RECIPE



Healthy Sobolo / Bissap (Hibiscus tea)
Sobolo is the name for it in our dialects, it has some powerful nutrients as while as side effects.  This recipe seeks to provide more essential ingredients for immune system boosting. The names are both in English and native language.we have outlined it benefits and some effects to be taken into consideration for a healthy living.

INGREDIENTS
*Hibiscus/roselle leaves (Sobolo)
*water (nsuo)
*Flavour (optional)
*Ginger (akekaduro)
*Cloves (Dadoa Amba / papre)
*West African Black pepper (Esoro Wisa)
*Negro pepper (Hwentia or Ahentia in Twi or Soh in Ga.
*Pineapple (aborɔbɛ)
*Honey/Sugar (asikyire)
*Sieve/filter (sɔneeɛ)
*2 Big bowls


 PREPARATION
-Soak the leaves for 10 minutes in a big bowl
-Add Negro pepper, black pepper, cloves and sliced pineapple or any other citrus fruit you desire together with peels and boil for about 10-15 minutes
-Bring it down to cool
-sieve and add blended ginger and mix with extracts.
-Add desired quantity of sugar and flavour (optional).
-Fill cups/bottles.
Sobolo may be served worm or chilled with or without snacks.

Note
Hibiscus tea is absolutely not recommended for pregnant women or those who are undergoing fertility treatments. It can lower levels of estrogen in the body and can prompt menstruation which could ultimately lead to a miscarriage. Those in their first trimester especially should avoid drinking this tea.
